That’s still the least-bad bad car I’ve seen this winter beater season.

J-body missing the entire front bumper including the crash bar , dangling headlight assemblies, 4 different tires, one functioning brake light

So many trucks with the frame literally being held together with bungie cords and duct tape

Several trucks with blue tarp and duct tape back windows

Considering our roads are covered in ice and snow until March tires are kinda important. This is the guy who takes the entire green light to cross an intersection because the tires are balding.

I went to get new Michelins on my 300D and the old guy in front of me talking to the tech was saying his tires were seven years old on his Saab and he was hoping to rotate in two new ones and keep the best old ones... I could tell he wasn’t poor, people just don’t  think of it as safety.

Threw this off the road yesterday. It served as a good reminder that just because a tire hasn’t failed yet, it d oesn’t mean it’s still good.

I carry post-it notes and a sharpie in my glovebox for days like this.

Sometimes it can backfire, though.

I regularly see people who take the entire green light to cross the intersection and continue spinning tires because there is literally NO RUBBER WHATSOEVER LEFT ON THEM until the next light.

Those have discernible tread-blocks and are entirely covered with rubber. The only tire note (actually more of a map to nearby tire places) I’ve ever left was for something far more awful:

I’ve seen so many cars with bald tires lately...maybe it’s time to bring back state inspections.

Also, ev ery 3rd car has a brake light out around here.

I’ve noticed many new Hyundais  with at least one brake light out. I think they need a new brake light supplier.

I bit the bullet a couple months ago for new tires on my wife’s car, even though we’d like to get rid of it, because I WANT HER AND OUR KIDS TO BE SAFE.

I don’t get how people think they can put off getting new  tires like they put off going to the doctor.

Me too man! I thought I was the only one that noticed that. Seems like half of Hyundais have one light out. On some, only the 3rd brake light works.
